Make Sure

I remember when tea bags didnt have the little strings and square paper pieces attached to them. At least I think I do. I have this horrible habit of remembering things that didnt happen and forgetting things that did. I like to think so, at least. Candles. They slowly kill themselves to be useful. Minute by minute more and more of it melts away and is forgotten. It does its job and disappears when it can do no more. When the light flickers. When the light goes out. Why dont we care about burnt out candles, dead batteries or empty ink cartridges? Arent we all like candles? Trying so hard to do our jobs, just to waste away? You bring out christmas lights once a year. Put them on a tree or around the house and smile at them. Just as quickly you put them away. Why dont we have Christmas lights out year-round? Why dont we let ourselves smile at them all the time? Our Christmas lights have been in our living room since the winter of 2000. I still smile at them. They will stay up until they burn out and are forgotten. There are no graveyards for lights that went out suddenly. Light bulbs dont think, but they help us see, help us get our work done so maybe, just maybe when we burn out we wont be forgotten.

Dont look too closely, you'll see the wax dripping from my skin.

we don't leave lights up because it's a waste of precious fossile fuels!!!

what you wrote sounds similiar to something Abdu'l-Baha wrote almost one hundred years ago:

"Another commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another even as I love you. Great mercy and blessings are promised to the people of your land, but on one condition; that their hearts be filled with the fire of love, that they live in perfect harmony and kindness like one soul in different bodies. Never forget this; look at one another with the eye of perfection; look at me, follow me, be as I am; take no thought for yourselves or your lives, whether ye eat or whether ye sleep, whether ye are comfortable, whether ye are well or ill, whether ye are with friends or foes, whether ye receive praise or blame; for all these things ye must care not at all. Look at me and be as I am; ye must die to yourselves and to the world, so ye shall be born again and enter the kingdom of heaven. Behold the candle, how it gives light. It weeps its life away drop by drop in order to give forth its flame of light."

but i get you, angeline.

Firs of, might I ask who are you and why does everyone I know know you? Second, there are tea bags without strings and have been for a while, I remember a good cinnamon tea my father had that was stringless. I don't know if they use to be more popular though. Third, I think we don't keep our christams lights up is because if we did, their special appeal would fade, and we would not smile at them as much. Burnt out candles can be refilled, batteries can be recycled, ink cartriges refilled, but humans can only in theory be revived. It would take many different organic systems restarted at the same time to re-new a human.
